AMAZING ADAPTATION

We discovered healthy numbers of Pacific Chinook salmon spawning in Patagonia’s glacial rivers, hundreds of kilometers inland from the Atlantic Ocean. Decades ago, their ancestors escaped from hatcheries along Chile’s Pacific coast, some swam vast distances around the tip of South America, eventually to spawn in rivers those ancestors had never known.
